About the speaker

Anthony Fernando is a seasoned aquarist with 36 years of experience in freshwater systems. Holding a degree in Evolution, Ecology, and the Environment, and a dual degree in Engineering Computer Information Systems, he brings a unique blend of scientific and technical expertise to the hobby.

With a 20-year career as a science educator at both the middle and high school levels in Collier County Public Schools, Anthony excels at communicating complex scientific concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.

A passionate breeder, he has successfully raised over 43 species of fish from diverse continents, specializing in pufferfish and cichlids.

Anthony is an active member of the Fort Myers Aquarium Society (FMAS) and the Venice Aquarium Society, with a strong connection to the local aquarist community.
